Hello. I am Jordan Schatz. I don't like talking about me, I'd rather talk about a problem or a challenging idea. I am a Christian, a husband, a father, a software engineer, and an entrepreneur — I am also quite a few other things: Caucasian, male, American, autodidact, nomad, minimalist to name a few.
I am on a journey of becoming better at my craft, and a better human. What is it to be human? I like Heinlein's description:
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
Humankind is a surprisingly capable, resilient, and flexible race. I embrace actions that grow our agency, our liberty.
I am I craftsman and take developing my craft — the creation of software that serves a human need — seriously. Besides a long history of software consulting I have also lead teams in startups, founded my own startup, been the CTO for a mid sized ($50MM/yr) business, built a software development consultancy i.e. one that employed other consultants, contributed to open source and done work for enterprise & government clients.
I deeply enjoy working with stage two companies: those that have identified a product-market fit, have between 10-99 employees and an annual revenue between $1 and $50 million and am actively looking for more companies to work with.
I am always interested in hearing about new opportunities, and helping others to find opportunities that fit them. If you are interested send me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org
